‍ ‍BIO

Mansur Kabera Kajibwami is a Congolese contemporary visual artist based in Nakivale refugee settlement, Uganda. His rigorous mixed-media practice utilizes tactile, organic elements like sand and acrylics on layered canvas to investigate the socio-political landscapes of migrated communities. Exploring territorial identity and memory as active forms of resistance, Kajibwami frequently incorporates text and the monumental maternal form into his dense compositions, utilizing the femininity as a resilient representation of a lost motherland.
